International Tanager Project for Zoo's
What can we as ITP mean for zoos? Through are extensive network of private breeders we can help zoos find pair or single birds of several species of tanagers. We can also assist in advice on feeding, husbandry and breeding tanagers. The purpose of the ITP project is to bring zoos and private breeders closer together and let them cooperate to save as much species as we can. For many species this is the only way to keep them alive in Europe and to try to breed these. At the moment only the Brazilian or scarlet tanager is being monitored in zoos by a breeding program. We as ITP are investigating the possibility to start up breeding programs for more species in cooperation with zoos to assist in breeding.
